It is a process by which a cell captures the sunlight energy and uses it to make food.
1st stage of photosynthesis - the pigments (chlorophyll) in chloroplasts (the green organelles inside plant cells capture the energy in sunlight.
2nd stage of photosynthesis - the cells use the captured energy to produce sugars.
The cell needs:
- water H2O
- carbon dioxide CO2
6 CO2 + 6 H2O → light energy → C6H12
